Eastern Market.

Haiii chic-ers (I made that name up, like it?)!  I’m ecstatic about sharing another post with you all & this deals with finding personal style.  Yup, I’ve been there & I’m pretty sure you all have as well.  I mean, I’m finally cultivating my style & coming into my own, but it took me what feels like eons to get to where I am NOW.

I had a love/hate relationship with my personal style: from looking at ghetto fab chicks at my high school to trying to hang on to my preppy/boho style.  Then college hit (styles I def don’t wanna relive) & I was experimenting all OVER the place: from having highlighted hair, tanned skin, & clothes to show off my tanned skin.  My turning point was when I interned at Nordstrom & worked at Banana Republic:  from there I began to hone in MORE on a minimalist, classic, but edgy kinda style.  The more I felt comfortable…I dated a guy who didn’t approve of my style (too bougie **Rolls eyes**) and I started to revert back to my style back in high school/college…again not only did my style became lost…so did I.  And it got WORSE when I moved to Michigan.

Everyone in Michigan was one of two things:  Basketball wife/LAHH star in training…or awkward/boho black girl…it STILL WAS NOT ME (working at F21 didn’t really help either).    As I grew over the years…I came into my own & so did my style, which is (and will always be) Minimalist, edgy, chic, but classic.  I wanted to showcase this on my blog as my COMING OUT moment: I’m proud to be an individualist, honey! **Snap, snap**

Eastern market is the perfect backdrop for this story:  it’s quaint, beatnik, yet still has an unstated cool about it.

Until, next time Chic-ers!

Welcome Back…*Cue Jay-Z “Encore”

Hello All!  Welcome to Unapologetically Chic!  I’m elated to be back fully blogging (been on hiatus since 2010) & will later create a Youtube so EVERYONE can have in sight on all things, chic & beautiful…UNAPOLOGETICALLY.

Me?  I’m just an Afro-Latina outta St. Louis whose blessed to be a honorary Detroit Girl.
I shot these pics in front of the GORGEOUS wall of Museum of Comtemporary Art Detroit (or MOCAD) & the haunting walls of The Detroit Institute of Arts!  It was BLISTERING COLD…but shooting with my wonderful Fraternity Brother made it more fun!
